An Adda to Remember!
A warm thank you to Daly John, President of the Rotary Club of Thane Skyline, for hosting a Chai for Cancer Adda in Thane — and to all the wonderful people who attended and raised their cups in support of cancer patients and their families, especially children affected by cancer.
Grateful to Guneet Singh, Secretary, and Daly John for initiating this first-of-its-kind awareness and fundraising event for the club — in support were four other member Rotary Clubs.
As the evening unfolded, conversations flowed freely. Viji Venkatesh, Managing Trustee Friends of Max, Member of Board The Max Foundation and Founder Chai for Cancer, shared the objective behind the campaign, while Pramod George, Trustee of Friends of Max, shared his powerful and inspiring journey as a Chronic Myeloid Leukemia patient on lifelong treatment. His story gave others the confidence to speak up about their own experiences and how they cope with cancer.
The Adda fulfilled its mission to:
- Bring cancer conversations into public spaces
- Raise awareness about the needs of patients and their families who are on lifelong treatment
- Raise support and funds for their small and yet unmet needs
While it may have been the first Adda for the club, it’s certainly not the last. Here’s hoping to raise many more cups to the cause!
