Alakta Kar, a long time supporter and one of Chai for Cancer’s Superheroes, has lent her undying support towards our cause since its inception in 2014. Together with her husband Salim, she has hosted an Adda every year at her home to celebrate birthdays and memories of loved ones. In 2021, unable to host a gathering due to the ongoing lockdown restrictions, but still motivated to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients, Alakta donated ₹ 1.6 Lakhs through her e-learning platform “Maatraa”.
“Chai for Cancer – the concept, the cause, and the dedication from the ever-inspiring Viji Venkatesh to transform her idea into an annual event – are the reasons this fundraiser is very close to my heart and is an integral part of my family. We have been hosting Addas since its inception in 2014 and each year left us feeling more overwhelmed than the last”, says Alakta about her long association with CFC.
